This is the '32 Ford that was alloy-bodied by Emil Deidt and Lugie Lusofsky in 1946-47 to run the dry lakes. It did run in 1948 at El Mirage, ran at Elkhart Lake in 1950 as a road race car and then won a first place trophy at a Navy Pier (Chicago) Auto Show in 1951. It then disappeared. It was found by Bill Schley in Wisconsin in 1988 inside an Irish pub surrounded by pool tables.
This car has been a joy! Working on the car with superb, world class workmanship everywhere you look is a genuine pleasure to ol' gearheads like us. We have to thank so many people, it is crazy! Starting with Bill Schley who discovered the car in an Irish pub in Wisconsin surrounded by pool tables about 1988, George Ratterink trading me the car because he said he would, even after he got a cash offer the next day, Don Orosco for offering a couple NOS Edelbrock block letter heads and an NOS 4:71 supercharger to help make the car correct as the Strother McMinn photos of the original build showed, Bob Ames for finding the original photos, Ken Gross for 20 years of encouragement, guidance and including it in the Bob Ames/Ken Gross tribute book to Strother McMinn photos, The entire Neubec family in Houston for their hands-on help in making parts for the unique supercharger installation, Daniel Turner of Turner Cycles/Houston for being skillful enough to envision and make the components to drive the supercharger, Butch Harris for his enthusiasm and welding skills to help re-create the intake manifold and supercharger plenums. Also Terry a friend from Livingston who just dropped by 3 days running to help us block out the primer before paint. Since the transporter waited two hours after they arrived to pick up the car as we were not yet finished installing all the body parts, it becomes apparent, anyone who helped at all were part of making the car view-able at Pebble Beach. As I write the biography of the car, I will include the many whom I have not identified here. What a story this car can tell.
